My name is Kirby-Diane Murphy (aka KD Murphy and Diane Murphy—so many names!)

I live and paint in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, but it wasn't always so. Born in New York City (Jackson Heights), grew up in Central New York (Syracuse/Liverpool). Finally went to the University of Washington in Seattle and never left.

Originally I painted LARGE (48' x 60") oil on canvas. I had a studio down in Pioneer Square and enjoyed that exciting time in my life. But "life" intervened, and I put my studio life on hold while I worked in Production/Design Department of  UW Press. Now retired, I've returned to painting. Only now, my medium is varied (oils, gouache, pastels, and watercolor). My canvases are much smaller now, given my love of working plein air.
